Half Marathon Running Training Program
There are many ideas about how long you should train for a half marathon. It depends on three things.
1) How fit are you and how much running have you been doing when you started training for your half marathon? If you're already running twenty miles a week or more, you should be able to train for a half marathon in 8 weeks without a problem.
2) How sore do you want to be when you cross the finish line?
Well I ran several half marathons before I figured out that they don't have to hurt. Not if you train for them.
But if you don't care how bad it hurts, you can run a marathon without training, with a hangover, pregnant with morning sickness, jet-lagged or a combination of the above (try no training, morning sickness and jet-lagged).
I sure felt a lot better when I finally trained for a half marathon.
3) What is your goal for this half marathon? Do you want to finish in a certain amount of time? Maybe you want to beat your current Personal Record. In that case you might want to add some speed training to one of your weekly runs.
