Run U Mother
This was a more competitive race so I was a little worried:).
I was registered to run the local Turkey Trot 5k with my husband and was determined to beat my time from the last 5k I ran (where by the way I placed 1st in my new "40 and older" age category).
I went to the race loaded head to toe with my RUN U MOTHER gear when my 12-year-old daughter decided at the last minute that she wanted to do it too. She is a great runner so I wasn't worried about the distance. I knew she could do it.
As they herded us to the start line, my daughter got a little anxious about the race. I told her not to worry! Just follow the crowd, to which my husband responded, "Don't worry, I'll stay with you." Good, I thought.
The gun went off and I left them in the dust (at least that's how I like to recall it).
I ran a decent race (though didn't even come close to 1st place) and beat my husband and daughter by about 3 minutes.
Was it worth leaving my daughter behind? Yeah, I had a plan and did well. She was in good hands with my husband so I didn't have to worry.
The irony of the story is they mixed up my time with my husbands so in the results, my daughter actually beat me by 2 seconds!
It was a fun time and we now have a favorite family story to tell:).
